In high school, I did well in Math but as a freshman in college, I struggled with Calculus. It took me three tries to finally pass with a C. Growth leads to regrets and one of mine was that I hadn’t mastered Calculus. A couple of years ago, I discovered Khan Academy and Professor Leonard. These sites helped me conquer Calculus. Yet I was left with the impression that online learning can be better than watching YouTube videos.
In 2022 I retired as a Construction Project Manager and decided to take advantage of the tuition waiver South Carolina affords its senior citizens and enrolled in Learning Design and Technologies, M.Ed. at the University of South Carolina. Thanks to the excellent professors, I learned how educational technology can indeed help students who struggle to succeed and how existing programs can be improved.

Higher Education faces many challenges. Is college worth the expense? Are college courses effective at communicating the subject matter? Can college more efficiently promote learning? What can be done to make colleges more accessible? Online education can conquer these challenges. An excellent online program can provide a high return on investment (ROI) making a college education well worth the expense both in time and money. An excellent online program can solve higher education’s iron triangle of improving proficiency while reducing cost and increasing accessibility.
The MrEd.Tech favicon is a Venn diagram representing the intersection of three disciplines: Learning Science, Instructional Design, and Educational Technology. The intersection of these three creates a "sweet spot" where the goals of making education more efficient, effective, and accessible can happen.
Note the favicon also represents the additive color model where red, blue, and green light to produce the visible spectrum of colors.
MrEd.Tech is founded on Connectivism Learning Theory. What is that? Click the link and demonstrate connectivism in action. Leaning derives from the connections we make.
You may have heard of Pedagogy, the teaching of children or dependent personalities; while Andragogy is the fancy name for adult learning. MrEd.Tech considers Heutagogy, or self-directed learning a better model for online education.
Now in this section, I haven't taught you anything, but if you followed the links I provided, you learned.
